Hi, I'm Sheressa

Books helped raise me. Now I write the stories I needed.

Children's author, literacy advocate, founder of Grove Leaf Press, and believer in the lifelong magic of being read to.

Why I write

Every child deserves a book that makes belonging feel possible.

I write because I remember being the child who needed a story to feel a little less alone. My picture books live where imagination meets identity, where big feelings can be named and held, and where young readers get to see themselves reaching for something just beyond the page.

Based in Stanislaus County, California, I'm the author of Touching the Sky: Dream Big, Build High and Kayla's Cloud. I also lead author visits, community literacy experiences, and book events across the Central Valley.

Through Grove Leaf Press and Knowledge Grove Foundation, I'm building reading-centered spaces where families, educators, and children can connect through stories.
