About Sheressa

Sheressa Jackson is a children's author and literacy advocate who believes every child deserves encouragement to dream big and believe in their potential. She writes stories that inspire perseverance, imagination, and confidence in young readers.

Sheressa is also the founder of Knowledge Grove Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy and educational equity in underserved communities. Through storytelling and community-based programs, she works to help children build strong reading habits and a love of learning.

With years of experience operating a K-12 home-based private school, Sheressa understands firsthand how the right books at the right time can transform a child's relationship with reading and learning. She lives in Stanislaus County, California, where she is dedicated to supporting literacy and learning in her community.

Books for Young Readers

I write stories that reflect the beauty, strength, and potential I see in every child. My books celebrate diverse experiences and empower young readers to see themselves as capable, creative, and worthy of big dreams.

Building Community Through Literacy

Reading is more than a skill. It's a gateway to imagination, confidence, and opportunity. Through the Family Literacy Initiative, I'm working to bring culturally affirming books and learning resources directly to families in underserved communities throughout Stanislaus County.

What We're Building

This program provides 75 families with comprehensive literacy kits containing books by diverse authors, phonics materials, reading guides for parents, and activity packs that connect learning to cultural traditions. Beyond distributing materials, we create community spaces where families gather, connect, and support one another in nurturing their children's love of reading.

Why It Matters

When children see themselves reflected in books, reading becomes personally meaningful. When parents have practical tools and support, they become their children's most powerful advocates. When communities come together around literacy, we build strength that lasts for generations.

This work is supported by Tupo Pamoja Fund and Drum Love, our fiscal sponsor.
